Lemon Poppy Seed Cupcakes

As the name suggest, I tried this recipe after buy some blue poppy seeds a few weeks ago. The only thing I can say about the poppy seeds are the crunch you feel when you bite into the cupcakes. Besides that...hmmm not too sure what else is there. It is written that poppy seeds can give you a "high"...unfortunately I think one has to have loads of it to actually feel a high. Anyways the lemon poppy seeds glaze adds the zest to these cupcakes.

MU cupcakes

I have made cakes with the MU logo, so this was a change to to usual ones I made. Nonetheless, the coloured logos were printed out on paper and cut out and then attached to the fondant pieces. The cupcakes are all butter cupcakes.

Engagement Cake

Made this for Angeline who wanted a cake for her engagement. It was a 12" square cake and I made two cakes to get the height. First really big cake, so covering it with fondant was a challenge. The rings are also made from fondant with a glass stone for added reality.

Christmas cupcakes

Decided to try my hand at making the poinsettais. Getting the red to be really Christmas red was not easy and I did add a lot of colour. Used the Wilton red (no taste) almost half a bottle.
The holly and berries were store bought.

Brandied Fruit cake and Rum & Raisin Loaf

Been busy baking the brandied fruit cakes for Christmas. Don't you just love the smell of the fruits and brandy and mixed spice as the cake is being baked. The whole house smelt like a fruit cake. :-)

A Picture Perfect B'day Cake

Tried making a camera from fondant but in the end just found this toy camera to subsitute. Using black fondant is not very easy and it often turns out more grey than black. So didnt want to spoil the whole cake by having an ugly looking black camera. The fondant carrots were added too for the carrot cake, which is topped with cream cheese.

A simple Wedding cake

Just a simple "wedding cake" requested by the mother of the groom as an offertory gift during the wedding mass. She baked the fruit cake and asked me to decorate it. Tried out the frills using a frill cutter I have had for ages. The roses were store bought.

Christmas cupcakes

Someone viewed my blog and said.."hey how come there are no Christmas themed cakes". So these are the first batch of Christmas cupcakes. The cupcakes are orange flavoured, covered with butter cream.

Not Quite Full Monty

This was a surprise cake for the Birthday boy. The cake is a double layer chcolate cake topped with chocolate ganache. Overall the figures turned out ok, but am still learning to what keeps them intact.

Oreo Cheese Cake

Basic baked cheese cake with crushed oreo for the base, and chunks of oreos in the cheese cake.
