This for the "open house" by from a corporate client. They wanted a 4kg cake. So instead of just making one type of cake, I combined 2 butter and 2 chocolate cakes in a checker board shape. The "Ketupat" and "Indian Oil Lamps" were cut out from fondant and placed on the cake.
A simple butter cake with butter icing. The difference is the "ketupat" that is often used to symbolise the Hari Raya celebrations in Malaysia. The "ketupat" here is made from fondant and placed in the cake. For those who may not know what a ketupat is...its actually coconut leaves woved into a square sort of basket, filled with rice and boiled. The rice is served with curry or satay.

Hi my name is Beatrice. Have always loved baking and have been baking since I was a kid. It was only years later that I managed to find somewhere to learn more about cake decorating and the interest kept growing. Pursued my passion in Melbourne and I am now a qualified pastry chef.
